Meet Our Deacon

​Deacon Charlie was born in Hollywood, CA. He is married to his wife Jessica of more than 20 years and is a biological, adoptive, foster, sponsor and spiritual father as well as a stepfather, Godfather, father-in-law and grandfather! He was ordained to the Permanent Diaconate on June 10, 2017 by His Excellency Jose H. Gomez, Archbishop of Los Angeles, and his diaconal ministries range from evangelization, apologetics and formation to homeless, pro life and Latino ministries.

Deacon Charlie is Vice Chairman Emeritus of Catholic Answers, the largest English-language apologetics and evangelization media company in the world. He is on the boards of the Catholic Association for Latino Leadership, a professional association of Christian business leaders founded by Archbishop Jose Gomez; Tepeyac Leadership Initiative, a civic leadership and faith organization founded by Bishop Thomas Olmstead; and Sent Ventures, a platform focused on entrepreneurs of faith; he is also Chairman of SOFESA, a non-profit founded by his wife, that accompanies and serves homeless families in Southern California.

Deacon Charlie is the founder and CEO of the Black//Brown Collective a Los Angeles-based strategic advisory & impact studio focused at the intersection of emerging platforms & emerging audiences.

He enjoys preaching, teaching & learning, public speaking, traveling, motorcycling, functional fitness, chicken wings and British comedies!
