Confirmation Mass & St Mark Mural
Celebrating Faith and Community: Saint Mark Confirmation Mass & Mural Dedication
The Saint Mark Confirmation Mass and Mural Dedication were unforgettable moments in the life of our parish. Through the lens of this slideshow, we invite you to relive the profound experiences that brought us together as a faith-filled community.
From the sacred Confirmation Mass, where our young members received the gifts of the Holy Spirit, to the touching dedication of our mural, which now beautifully adorns our parish walls, these moments speak to the strength of our shared journey. Bishop Matt Elshoff’s presence and blessing made this day even more special, as we celebrated both the spiritual milestones and the artistry that represents the vibrant history and future of Saint Mark Parish.

Father Albert envisioned this mural as a reflection of Saint Mark's enduring legacy—portrayed through the lives of four heroic figures, each with a connection to the parish:
- Saint Mark the Evangelist– Patron of the parish, gospel author, and fearless chronicler of Christ's ministry, his image appears as a gleaming 6th century Greek mosaic.
- Saint Candidus– A Roman soldier of the Theban Legion and martyr whose relics were brought to California by Bishop Amat, the first bishop of Los Angeles.
- Blessed Marie Rose Durocher– A pioneering educator and founder of the Sisters of the Holy Name, whose vision helped establish Saint Mark School. A first class relic was brought to Saint Mark in the centennial year 2023 by Sister Martha Rolley, SNJM, former Principal of the school, and Sister Miriam Malone, former teacher.
- Blessed Miguel Pro– A defiant voice of faith during Mexico’s religious persecution. Executed for performing his priestly duties, he died with arms outstretched in Christ’s likeness, boldly proclaiming: “¡Viva Cristo Rey!” (Long live Christ the King!). A relic of his finger bone was brought to Venice from Mexico City by three members of the School Board in the Summer of 2023.
Together, these saints tell a story of courage, education, sacrifice, and evangelization—mirroring the journey of Saint Mark’s parishioners across generation

Commissioned for her deeply humanistic style and passion for community impact, Presa Hall brings this mural to life with her signature fusion of beauty and meaning. A proud voice for women in the arts, Hall says her goal is simple but powerful: to create art that unites, uplifts, and inspires.
“I want people to see this mural and feel a part of something bigger—something hopeful,” said Hall. “Art has the power to change the way we see the world, and this mural is my offering to this community.”
